July 11, 2006 - Ryan Says:

Details? Well, I can give you a rundown. We were spending a romantic day together, it being the anniversary of the day we met (7 years knowing each other) and I was planning on proposing that night. I spent all day trying to come up with a good speech.

Lissa had decided to take the day off, so my initial plan of getting her some lillies to add to the proposal experience was non-doable, so the anticipation was particularly fierce. I had no clue, in light of all this, what I was going to do. Lissa got some bloodwork done, and I pondered.

We went shopping (well, I went with Lissa when she went shopping *wink*) and still I pondered, working myself up more and more.

We got home and put on some music, and I was struggling with the words and making myself more and more tense until I just couldn't take it anymore. I just dropped to one knee in front of her and proposed. No speech, nothing. Just overcome, and the words: "Sweety? Will you marry me?", said in the greatest ernestness. I held my breath for a moment. Then, suddenly - I swear, I hadn't seen her so happy as she was in that moment in...well, I can't recall a time. Maybe that Canada day when she and Heather and I danced in the rain. Just thinking about it warms my heart. :D

We then had a sushi picnic in the basement, fearing rain.

I'd give you more details, but I don't know that you want them. ;)

Oh, as an interesting note, I just happened to propose while the new NIN CD was playing. Not intentional, but part of me will revel in that until my dying day. Bwahahaha. *And*, she was the one who wanted to listen to it, so it's not even like I was subjecting her to my music.  Won.  Der.  Ful!
